- On the occasion of World Glaucoma Day, an awareness program was organized at Rohilkhand Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital by the Department of Shalakya Tantra in collaboration with NSS Unit IV to spread awareness about glaucoma and the importance of eye health. The program aimed to educate students and the public about the early detection and prevention of this silent vision-threatening disease.
- The Program began with an introductory speech by Tarun Kumar Dwibedi, Assistant Professor, Department of Shalakya Tantra, who highlighted the significance of World Glaucoma Day and explained that glaucoma is often referred to as the “silent thief of sight” because it develops gradually without early symptoms. He emphasized the importance of regular eye examinations, timely diagnosis, and spreading awareness in the community to prevent irreversible blindness.
- Around 10 students actively participated by presenting informative posters both digitally and on charts, highlighting causes, risk factors, preventive measures, and the importance of early screening for glaucoma. Their presentations helped in effectively communicating awareness messages to the audience.
- The NSS Unit IV volunteers assisted in organizing the event and encouraged participants to adopt healthy eye care practices and undergo routine eye check-ups.
- The program concluded with an end note by Dr. Ajoy Viswam, Associate Professor, Department of Shalakya Tantra, who appreciated the efforts of the students and NSS volunteers and encouraged everyone to continue spreading awareness about glaucoma for the prevention of avoidable blindness. The event ended on a positive note with a message of collective responsibility toward eye health.
