CHIKITSA GURUKULAM WORKSHOP ON PANCHAKARMA AND KSHARSUTRA

AT ROHILKHAND AYURVEDIC MEDICAL COLLEGE 6^th & 7^th september

OBJECTIVES:

A two-day Chikitsa Gurukulam Workshop was organized jointly by Rohilkhand Ayurvedic Medical College and the Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad.

Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, and other dignitaries emphasized the need to make Ayurveda more accessible, research-oriented, and relevant to modern health challenges.

• The workshop featured live demonstrations and expert lectures on Ksharsutra therapy for anorectal disorders and Panchakarma procedures including Vamana Karma, Shirodhara, Udwartana, Uttar Basti, and others. Experts from reputed institutions highlighted Ayurveda’s role in managing chronic diseases, infertility, and lifestyle disorders.
• The program provided students, teachers, and practitioners with rare opportunities to gain practical clinical exposure alongside theoretical knowledge.
• In the Valedictory Address, Hon’ble Dr. Arun Kumar, Minister of Forests and Environment, Uttar Pradesh, stressed the importance of taking Ayurveda to the masses and promoting evidence-based Ayurvedic education and research.
• The workshop was recognized as a milestone event, strengthening confidence in Ayurveda as a scientific and holistic system of healthcare.

• The grand inauguration of Chikitsa Gurukulam 2025 was held on 6th & 7^thSeptember 2025 at Rohilkhand Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Ramganga Nagar Yojana, Sector 7, Dohra Road, Bareilly (U.P.).

Two-Day Gurukulam Workshop on Panchakarma and Ksharsutra at Rohilkhand Ayurvedic Medical College.

• Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, addressed physicians, teachers, and students, urging them to make Ayurveda more accessible, and research-oriented.
• Shri Raghvendra Sharma MLAemphasized that Ayurveda is a true “science of life” and highlighted its scientific relevance in the present era. Shri Dr. Raghvendra Sharma spoke about the importance of Ayurveda and referred to Āchārya Sushruta, the Father of Surgery, who pioneered various surgical techniques in ancient India, proving the scientific foundation of Ayurveda.
• Dr. Yogesh Chandra Mishra,Organizing Secretary of Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad, elaborated on the various activities of the Parishad.
• Dr. Keshav Kumar Agarwal,Chancellor of Bareilly International University, announced the upcoming establishment of an Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy in the near future.

The first day of the workshop featured three technical sessions:

• In the inaugural session Prof. & Dr. D. K. Dwivedi delivered an in-depth lecture on Ksharsutra therapy in Bhagandara (fistula-in-ano).
• Dr. Mansi, Asstt. Professor Shalya Tantra,performed the Ksharsutra procedure in Fistula-in-Ano, with the live demonstration telecast in real time for viewers.
• The second session was led by renowned Anorectal Surgeon from Bareilly, Dr. Lalta Prasad, who shared insights on the management of Arsha Roga (hemorrhoids).
• In the third session, world-renowned Panchakarma expert from Mumbai, Prof. & Dr. U. S. Nigam,shared his vast clinical experience, highlighting the importance of Panchakarma therapy in addressing health challenges arising from modern lifestyles.

Chikitsa Gurukulam 2025 – Day 2 Highlights

• The second day of the Chikitsa Gurukulam 2025 workshop commenced with the inaugural session led by Anant Ram Sharma,Head of the Panchakarma Department, All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi. He conducted a live demonstration of Vamana Karma (therapeutic emesis) for skin disorders, allowing participants to witness how classical Ayurvedic procedures are practically implemented in clinical settings.
• Following this, renowned Panchakarma expert Prfo. Dr. Uma Shankar Nigam presented live demonstrations of several major Panchakarma therapies including Snehana, Shiropichu, Shirodhara, Udwartana, Patra Pinda Swedana, Janu Basti, Uro Basti, and Kati Basti on patients. His practical demonstrations highlighted that Panchakarma is not merely a therapeutic modality but a holistic approach to achieving complete health.
• Later, Prof. Dr. Pratibha C. K. from G.S. Ayurvedic Medical College, Pilkhuwaconducted a live demonstration of Uttar Basti Karma for infertility management. She explained in detail how this therapy is effective in treating gynecological complications and demonstrated its practical applications.
• The academic sessions, which continued throughout the day, provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of Panchakarma therapies, both in theory and practice. Ayurveda students, teachers, and practitioners unanimously agreed that the workshop proved to be a milestone in expanding their knowledge and clinical exposure.
• The program concluded with the Valedictory Address by Dr. Arun Kumar, Minister of Forests and Environment, Government of Uttar Pradesh, who emphasized the need to take Ayurveda to the masses and to promote research-based Ayurvedic education. The occasion was also graced by the presence of the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of Bareilly International University.
